About Deutsche Messe Hannover

Deutsche Messe Hannover was founded in 1947 to help post-war German industry rebuild and has since grown into the largest exhibition fairground on earth by indoor space - 466,100 m of hall area across 27 halls plus 58,000 m of outdoor exhibition area. The grounds sit in the Laatzen district south of Hannover, with the iconic Hermes Tower (88 m) as their visual anchor.

The hall portfolio

Halls 2 through 27 form the main exhibition complex, with halls 1, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 19 and 20 the largest single-volume spaces. Hall 26 is unique in Europe: it has on-floor rail tracks that allow full-size trains, metro carriages and locomotives to be displayed directly on the stand at InnoTrans (held at Messe Berlin) - though more relevantly here, the same rail access is used at Hannover Messe for industrial-machinery transport. Halls 2-7 carry the highest floor loads (5,000 kg/m). Hall 19/20 form the "Pavilions" outdoor demonstration zone for working agricultural machinery at AGRITECHNICA.

Signature fairs

Hannover Messe (annual, late April) is the worlds largest industrial-automation and energy-systems trade fair, drawing 4,000 exhibitors and 130,000+ visitors with an annually-rotating "Partner Country" (Brazil in 2026). AGRITECHNICA (biennial November) is the worlds largest agricultural-machinery fair with 470,000 visitors. CeMAT (intralogistics) and DOMOTEX (carpets and flooring) anchor the rest of the calendar. EMO Hannover (machine tools, biennial) is the global leader in its sector when it lands in Hannover (rotates with Milan).

Logistics for exhibitors

The venue has its own ICE rail station (Messe/Laatzen, 8 minutes from Hannover Hauptbahnhof). Hannover Airport is 30 minutes by S-Bahn S5. Schenker is the official forwarder. Build-up for Hannover Messe runs typically seven to ten days because of the scale. Crane lifts above 30 tonne must be coordinated 21 days in advance.

Working at Hannover

Hannover is north German in business style - direct, punctual, English-comfortable. The venues sheer size means dedicated shuttle buses run between halls during major shows. Hannovers permanent hotel stock cannot absorb Hannover Messe demand - the city of 540,000 receives 130,000 fair visitors in a single week, so most exhibitors stay in private rentals via the official Hannover Marketing portal or in surrounding towns up to 60 km away.
