MCH Messecenter Herning
MCH Messecenter Herning, operated by MCH A/S, was inaugurated in 1963 and offers around 110,000 square metres of indoor areas across 15 exhibition halls, with individual halls ranging from about 2,000 to 14,000 square metres. There are more than 8,000 free parking spaces. The same operator runs MCH Herning Kongrescenter, MCH Arena and Jyske Bank Boxen on the same site.
Note that MCH publishes the 110,000 square metre figure as total indoor area rather than net exhibition space, so treat it as the building envelope rather than sellable floor.
Hall M and pillar-free building
The detail worth designing around is Hall M, opened in 2004 at 14,000 square metres, which MCH describes as the largest pillar-free hall in Denmark. For a large freestanding build that is a real advantage: no columns interrupting the floor means genuine freedom in layout and sightlines, which is exactly what island stands and open-plan designs need. If your stand depends on an uninterrupted footprint, ask to be placed there.
MCH does not publish hall heights, floor loading, sustainability requirements or approved-contractor rules openly. Those sit in the exhibitor manual behind a login, so request access early rather than assuming a standard: the technical orders, stand drawings and construction and dismantling rules all live there.
Formland, twice a year
Herning's best-known fair is Formland, the Nordic interior design, gift and lifestyle trade fair, which is organised by MCH A/S itself rather than a third party. Unusually, it runs twice a year, in spring and autumn, rather than annually. The next edition is Formland Autumn 2026, running 16-18 August 2026.
The twice-yearly cycle matters if you are planning: a stand built for one edition may be reusable six months later rather than sitting in storage for a year, which changes the economics of a custom build. Worth raising with your contractor when you discuss storage and refurbishment.
