ARCOmadrid 2026 is a trade fair in Madrid, Spain.
ARCOmadrid is one of Europe's leading contemporary art fairs, held each spring at IFEMA Madrid. The 2026 edition, its 45th, runs 4-8 March 2026 in halls 7 and 9, with the first three days for professionals and the public admitted from the Friday afternoon. Organised by IFEMA Madrid, ARCO brings together around 210 galleries from some 30 countries and draws a large international audience of collectors, curators, institutions and the public.
ARCO is a gallery fair, and its stands follow a very different logic from a commercial trade show. The "stands" are effectively temporary galleries: clean white-cube booths where the architecture disappears so the artworks dominate. The build brief is precision and neutrality, flawless walls, museum-grade lighting, correct hanging surfaces and load points for heavy or large works, and careful handling provisions, rather than branding or spectacle. Quality of finish and lighting is everything because the work must read as it would in a gallery.
ARCO is curated into a main programme plus themed sections, and placement within the layout carries real weight in the art world, both for visibility and for the peer context of surrounding galleries. The requirements around wall finish, lighting, security and art handling are specialised, and IFEMA's technical rules apply. Given the precision required, galleries and their builders confirm booth specification and placement well in advance.
For galleries exhibiting at ARCOmadrid, a builder with Madrid and IFEMA experience who understands art-fair standards is a genuine advantage: gallery-grade walls, lighting and art-handling provisions are specialist work, and local knowledge of the venue's logistics and approved contractors reduces risk during the most important week in the Spanish art calendar.
ARCOmadrid 2026 is held at IFEMA Madrid in Madrid, Spain.
