About MWC Barcelona 2026

MWC Barcelona (formerly Mobile World Congress) is the worlds largest and most influential trade fair for the mobile and connectivity industry. Held annually at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via since 2006 (moved from Cannes), the four-day event brings roughly 2,400 exhibitors and 101,000 trade attendees from 200+ countries each spring.

Industry context

MWC is organised by the GSM Association (GSMA), the global trade body representing 750+ mobile operators. Over time it has expanded well beyond pure mobile-network technology to encompass 5G, 6G research, AI, IoT, satellite connectivity, automotive connectivity, fintech, immersive media and increasingly defence-tech. The colocated "4YFN" (Four Years From Now) startup event hosts 800+ early-stage companies. MWC sets the launch calendar for global smartphone hardware - Samsung, Xiaomi, Honor and many others time their flagship reveals to coincide with the show.

Exhibitor profile

Exhibitors range from global telecoms giants (Vodafone, Telefonica, AT&T, China Mobile, Orange, Deutsche Telekom) through network-infrastructure vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Samsung Networks) to smartphone OEMs, chipset designers (Qualcomm, MediaTek), cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft, Google), and an increasingly large enterprise-IT contingent. Stands are unusually large - Qualcomms and Huaweis stands historically exceed 4,000 m each.

Visitor demographics

Roughly 80 percent of attendees hold director-level or above titles. 60+ percent come from outside Europe, with very heavy participation from US, China, Japan, South Korea, India, the Middle East and Latin America. MWC consistently ranks as the most internationally diverse trade fair in Europe by attendee passport mix.

What makes the stand build different here

MWC stand budgets are the highest of any European trade fair on a per-square-metre basis - 1,500-3,000 euro per m is normal for the headline brands. The fairs heavy use of LED video walls, live 5G/6G demonstration networks, satellite-uplink installations and immersive AR/VR pods means electrical demands routinely exceed 500 kVA per major stand. Halls 1, 2 and 3 (the largest pavilions with 13 m clearance) are reserved for the heaviest infrastructure exhibits.
