About Salone del Mobile 2026

Salone del Mobile is the global furniture and design industrys most important commercial event. Held annually at Fiera Milano Rho every April, it draws roughly 2,000 exhibitors from 35+ countries and 370,000 trade visitors over six days, and anchors Milan Design Week - a citywide constellation of off-site brand activations known as the "Fuorisalone" that turns Brera, Tortona, Isola and Porta Romana into temporary showrooms.

Industry context

Salone was founded in 1961 by the Italian furniture-industry association Federlegno (now Federlegno Eventi SpA) and has since become the defining annual benchmark for furniture, lighting, kitchens and design. The "Salone Internazionale del Mobile" is paired with biennial co-located events: Euroluce (lighting), EuroCucina (kitchens), the International Bathroom Exhibition, and Workplace3.0. SaloneSatellite, a dedicated exhibition for 700 designers under 35, runs alongside as the discoverable talent platform.

Exhibitor profile

Italian brands account for roughly 60 percent of exhibitors, with the remaining 40 percent drawn primarily from Germany, the Nordics, Spain, the Netherlands, France and increasingly Japan and South Korea. The exhibitor list reads as a roster of the global luxury furniture industry: Cassina, Molteni, B&B Italia, Poliform, Kartell, Magis, Vitra, Hay, Knoll, Herman Miller and many more.

Visitor demographics

Visitors are predominantly architects, interior designers, retailers, hospitality buyers, contract-furniture procurement leads, and design press. Roughly two-thirds travel from outside Italy. The press attendance is unusually heavy - over 5,500 accredited journalists - because Salone effectively launches the global design press cycle each year.

What makes the stand build different here

Italian fair culture is design-led to a degree no other European fair matches. Stands at Salone are expected to feel like editorial features - real materials, custom furniture, integrated lighting, dramatic spatial choreography. Build budgets routinely exceed 1,000 euro per m for the headline brands; double-deck and even triple-deck stands are standard. The "vernissage" stand opening on day one is a serious event with prosecco service, music, and curated invitations.
